Grampians has many roads and fire tracks suitable for cycling.

  • Historic back track route to Zumsteins starts at Rosebrook where a shut gate leads off near an ancient shearing shed on eastern side of the road.  The track is getting a bit rough but clearly goes all the way to Zumsteins. Half way you pass Dad and Dave Weir and can come off the ride at this point. Comeback on the asphalt road the western side of the river. This was the original route to McKenzie Falls.  Get map and details.  You can also reverse this ride from Zumsteins.
  • Wartook State Forest has many gentle tracks, some sand. Chinese villagers walked through this forest in 1853 on their way to the Victorian Gold fields.  They started in Robe South Australia, three hours drive away.
  • Ride on the sheep track next to the road which starts at Happy Wanderer and goes right up to the silos, near Mt Zero.
  • Do an Olive oil bike ride visiting three individual olive plantations on your journey.  Start near Staplyton campground, do a circle to Toscana Gourmet tasting room 7 days 11 - 4pm , and Laharum Grove restaurant and gourmet products Fri, Sat, Sun.
  • Thrill seekers ride to Halls Gap over the mountain but very twisting and steep.
  • Mountain bikers enjoy the fire trails and tracks.  Chinamans Track and Carters Track are good starts, up over the Mt Difficult Range to Lake Wartook.  You can return via the main road.
